Kipedo Valley National Park

Kidepo is in the situated in the vast north eastern part of Uganda in the Karamoja area and boarded by Sudan and Kenya. Kidepo Valley National Park occupies an area of 1,442 km². Because of its remote position, this park receives a smaller amount number, of tourists. It is part of Uganda’s most impressive parks. It has scenery not compared to any other park found in East Africa.

The park supports a great avifauna. 465 species have been registered. There are also approximately 80 species of mammals of which 28 are not seen else where in the other Ugandan parks. A number of of the wild game in this park comprise of the cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus), Leopard (Panthera pardus), Lion (Panthera leo), Bat eared fox (Otocyon megalotis), Caracal (Felis caracal), Striped Hyena (Hyaena hyena), Lesser Kudu (Tragelaphus imberbis, Elephant (loxodanta Africana), Beisa Oryx (Oryx gazelle), Giraffe (Giraffa camelopardalis), Burch ells Zebra plus a number of Antelopes.

Access:
By Road: Kidepo Valley National Park is  about 840km from Kampala and even if the expedition can be challenging, use about to two days, the great landscape past provides a wonderful  the expedition that is worth your expenditure.
There are three routes that can be used by road.
1.    Kampala via Karuma – Lira Kotido – Kidepo is approximately 705 kms.
2.    Kampala via Mbale – Sironko – Kotido – Kidepo is about 740 km.
3.    Kampala via Mbale – Soroti – Moroto – Kidepo is approximately792 km.
A 4 x 4 wheel drive vehicle is the best option for any of the journeys to Kidepo.
By Air:  Another one may be a Chartered flights are accessible at Entebbe to Kidepo Valley National Park headquarters.
Accommodation:
required facility: Apoka Rest Camp even if it is significant to understand that the park also operates a self catering hostel made up of 14 Bandas’ all with two beds.
